De or Dey is a surname commonly used by the Bengali community. De/Dey is derived from the last name Deb/Dev or Deva. The surname has been mostly associated with Kayasthas, but presently Bengali Baishyas including Suvarna Baniks also use the surname along with Bengali Kayasthas. In 12th-13th century, a Hindu dynasty Deva ruled over eastern Bengal after the Sena dynasty. The capital of this dynasty was Bikrampur in present-day Munshiganj district of Bangladesh. This Hindu Vaishnava dynasty is different from an earlier Buddhist Deva dynasty (c. 8th-9th century) of Samatata, whose capital was Devaparvata. Four rulers of this dynasty are known from the inscriptions: Shantideva, Viradeva, Anandadeva and Bhavadeva. ==De Bengalis== * Barun De (1932-2013), historian and administrator. * Bishnu Dey (1909-1982), Bengali poet. * Brajendranath De (1852-1932), orientalist and administrator. * Chandra Kumar De (1889-1946), Indian folklorist. * Deepankar De (living), Bengali actor * Gita Dey (5 August 1931 – 17 January 2011) was a well-known actress in Bengali film, theatre and Bengali folk theatre. * Harinath De (1877-1911), linguist * Jyotish Chandra De, (1892-1962), army doctor and administrator. * Krishanu Dey (1962-2003), Indian football player * Lal Behari Dey (1824-1892), Indian journalist and author * Manna Dey (born 1919), Indian singer * Manishi Dey (1906-1989), Indian artist * Mukul Dey (1895-1989), Indian artist * Niren De, Attorney General of India * Saroj Nalini Dutt (née De), M.B.E., (1887-1925), social worker. * Srijita De, Indian actress 抄文引用元・出典: フリー百科事典『 ウィキペディア(Wikipedia)』 ■ウィキペディアで「De (surname)」の詳細全文を読む スポンサード リンク
